More Control Over Material and Layer Names
Allow users to customize the naming convention for layers and materials with a custom name or with the SketchUp filename.
Some improvements have been made in the latest build, although it is more of a stepping stone measure.
perhaps you could use component names as layer names

Just wanted to add that apart from the naming, a possibility to set submaterial ID numbers for each SketchUp material would've been very useful.
For example, that will allow to use legacy LoD system with somewhat decent results (as legacy LoD models can only use one submaterial and it's always ID1 from a parent, one would want to ensure that LoD-targeted lowres unwrap or other relevant texture is sitting on that ID). Not that relevant if CGF nodes/modern LoD support arrives, but still quite useful.
Another use for manual ID configuration is creating interchangeable materials between several .skp files and asset sets. Meta parent materials, so to speak. For example, you will be able to make several buildings with brick-concrete-wood-glass-proxy order of 5 submaterials they use, and then get the ability to flawlessly switch between a variety of predefined parent materials with that order. Very useful for seasonal changes, aging of big building sets, fitting buildings in various groups with unified textures, reusing assets multiple times, etc.
